Cover letter in support of the distribution of Digraph 3 Plus, version 4

Major changes have been introduced since the last 4.0.0.0 version of Digraph 3 Plus, which make the new produced or saved chains NO longer COMPATIBLE with the previous Digraph versions. These chains can only be read using the new Digraph versions. The changes apply to all machine models.

NOTES TO THE CUSTOMER

The conversion of chains is a NON-REVERSIBLE process, we therefore recommend to make a complete backup of all the chains before switching to the new Digraph version. This procedure is merely a precaution in the event of future use of old files on other computers.

Considering that the new chains are recognised and can be viewed only by the new Digraph version, the user must SIMULTANEOUSLY update all the workstations at the head office and remote locations. If any chains are supplied to contractors, they are required to update their DIGRAPH version following the procedure described above.

There is no need, however, to update the machine driver of the Digraph system.

Since nothing changes at the encoding level, there is no need to update the software installed in the machine.
